A new study by Aimilia Zisiadi et al was selected as an Editor’s Choice in Molecular Human Reproduction! This study compared several 3D in vitro follicle culture (IFC) systems in mice, including matrix-free and hydrogel-based approaches. The matrix-free non-attachment (NA) system produced higher rates of meiotic competence and fertilization, with gene expression in cumulus cells resembling in vivo profiles more closely than encapsulation systems. These findings highlight the NA system as a promising method, though translation to humans requires further research.
Molecular Human Reproduction is a Q1 Journal in Developmental Biology, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology categories with 3.5 IF (2024).
